ATHENA (Notes): 12:56 - We arrive at Mammoth Caves. We purchase our tickets. A cold wind blows up from the pit while the sound of trickling water surrounds us. We enter into a tight cavern that gives way to a stone cathedral past a graveyard. Bigger rooms. This is the rotunda. A great hallway brings us to a dirt mound. The cave turned out to be small on the self-guided tour, causing much disappointment. The group waited for 30 minutes to see if a tour slot would open up. PB & J’s were eaten. The tickets were not available. The group moves onto Bardstown in hope that it will have more. A tense silence pervades.

ATHENA (Notes): 4:44 pm, eastern time: Thick dark clouds hang overhead in the distance. Will asks why they are like that. Athena says that they are thunder clouds. Will clarifies that he is asking why they are light. Athena postulates that the heavier, darker stuff moves to the bottom.
